I was sent notifications regarding an additional outstanding balance for the 2007 term.
In 2007, at the time of my enrollment, I was sent a PDF document via email which outlined the amount of my student loans and the costs of classes broken down by semester.
The initial agreement sent to me did have an out of pocket student expense of approximately $100.00. I replied to the financial advisor, saying that $100.00 per month would be very difficult, as my student loans did not include any overages for textbooks or needed supplies, and asked if I had any options available to me to help procure additional funding.
Advisor W. (the advisor at the time of my enrollment) replied via e-mail and said she would review and get back to me. Shortly thereafter, I received an e-mail stating apos;Good news, I reviewed your financial documents and have a new plan prepared for you.apos;
This second plan was also delivered as a PDF file which was broken down into an invoice for each semester. At the end of the term, I was to receive approximately $120.00, the amount my student loan exceeded college costs, to reimburse for a very small portion of textbook costs.
In February, I was told that these costs were included in the complete balance as per an e-mail with Advisor R. Which stated:
ldquo;As explained on April 2, 2008, your entire balance didnapos;t come from one specific start but over a few quarters because of unpaid out of pocket expenses on your end.rdquo;
Because of hard drive troubles, I no longer have access to those PDFs, unless I am able to find a way to hook up an old corrupted hard drive and attempt to recover lost information. I notified Advisor R. In an e-mail response.
ldquo;I contest previous out of pocket expenses because I was sent two documents from the financial aide department upon admission. This first detailed a plan which would have an expense of approximately
100$ per month out of pocket expense. Shortly thereafter, I was sent a second financial aid plan which had no monthly expense and a year end rebate of about 119$. " (Email response to R, around July 23rd, 2008)
I only signed and accepted the second financial aide plan, though I no longer have my copy available, I believe that it may be able to be looked up on your computer systems. If you review the records, you will see that the first plan, which did include a monthly balance was never signed or accepted by me.rdquo;
Despite numerous e-mail and telelphone requests for copies of both PDFs, neither has been delivered to me.
